Happy birthday!

Sarel turned 31 yesterday! We didn’t do much because his grandmother, Ouma Lettie, was recently diagnosed with acute leukemia and our spirits are a bit down… It doesn’t seem right to celebrate anything when someone you truly love and who has played a tremendous role in your life is suddenly busy dying. I don’t think anyone can comprehend the sadness he feels in his heart right now. It breaks my heart… I wish I could do something to make his heart ache a bit better… Cancer is such a terrible disease! Yesterday was the first day in two weeks we were allowed to hug and kiss her again. When we left the hospital I gave her a big, long hug and kissed her on her cheek. Her skin felt extremely soft, like a baby’s skin, and I wondered how many times I have left to share a moment like this with her. Life can be so hectic sometimes, so unfair… So extremely ruthless! 

Saturday...

Saturday I met up with Joni at the V&A for some window shopping, ‘girl talk’ and cocktails... Litchi daiquiri and Pina Colade. We had so much fun! Thank you Kleinsus, you are the best!

Tea Party!

Saturday morning I was at the best birthday tea party ever! I have a smile stuck to my face thinking about being at that beautiful celebration! I feel so honored to have the best girlfriends anyone could wish for. Thank you Carla!  

Flower Power

My latest needle work attempt: a cushion cover. A mix of textures... Shwe Shwe and felt. Can’t wait to see the final result, so as soon as I get home tonight I will try and finish it.  

China Town

Sunday, a friend and I visited China Town in Ottery, Cape Town. What an experience! Not to mention all the bargains! Well, my plan was to find a few things for our wedding but I got a bit distracted and ended up with a lot of socks, kitchen sponges, glitter pens, aromatic oils, gift bags, and the best buy... A rubik’s cube... So 80’s!!! Now I need to figure out how it works... While listening to The Cure!

Yellow...

The colour yellow is growing on me.
I can’t wear yellow, it doesn’t suit my complexion, I envy darker skinned people whos skin colours make yellow ‘pop’. So thank you for being my hand model Libré!

I am also including a photograph of a painting I am busy with. With my monsters and all the wedding stuff, I don’t get any time to paint and my paintings get smaller and smaller, and even then I still don’t get time to finish any of it. Very sad!

Betties Bay

We spent Saturday in Betties Bay. What an awesome breakaway with fantastic friends! This is the type of place you go to if you need to relax and unwind. It felt like I discovered a small piece of heaven hidden away from our busy, chaotic lives.

Home alone

I am home alone this week... While watching a scary movie last night, I felt like I needed distraction – just enough not to freak out in a scary scene – so I made some jewels. Luckily my technique worked... I slept peacefully! Well, the truth is, I actually passed out on the couch in front of the tv... (How sad!) But I guess my cousin can do with a sweet pair of earrings and bangles. Hope she likes it!
